#SayNoToXenophobia

AFRICANS LET US UNITE AND BE ONE.

                              #SayNoToXenophobia

Xenophobia is all about fear or hatred foreigners, people from different cultures or stranger. These can be seen as a reaction to rise of globalization. We are all Africans I do not think there is a need to have discrimination against one another. All we can do is to unite and build a better South Africa. People are not going to take us serious if we as brothers fight instate of being united. These thing is destroying the country. I quote it is said that "Before we are black or white, South Africans or Not, Xhosa or Afrikaans, we are all humans".Background info about Xenophobia.

Although there are challenges that Public Relations will encounter is these is that the production can affected due to issues between members of the organisation. In an organisation we work with people from different countries and this can particularly affect people within the organisation. We might find it that since these xenophobia movement has been started people who have that discrimination mentality towards their fellow colleagues. That's where the Public Relations Practitioners should intervene to fix such  problems. Public Relations Practitioners are going to have to come with strategies that they are going to use to prevent these from affecting their organization, and it might be difficult to come up with one.

Xenophobia can practically affect the economy in a negative manner. We have invested in different countries for the growth of our economy but since people started to discriminate against one other the investment can parish. I mean it does not make sense we as Africans killing one another. How can you burn your fellow brother or sister alive? We are all have been made through the image of God it is not good to discriminate.

Advantages of using social media for Public Relations Practitioners when can campaigning for #sayNotoXenophobia is that they get to engage with lots of people through social media platforms. They can get a chance to write a story that will educate people on the wrongs of being against one another, the story can be public were people will have to share their opinion on the matter. They can also create hashtags on twitter that relate to xenophobia that's where people will interact. It can also be advantageous for them to share videos on Instagram that are based on xenophobia.

Drawbacks of of using social media to address the issue, it will raise the anxiety that people have. Every individual has a fear of being judge. Public Relations Practitioner will have to deal with peoples differences. It might not be easy or even possible for them to respond to every comments of each individual and these can make them look bad. Social media can deliver message in a wrong manner, not everyone will be able to interpreter the videos that are being posted on social media. Once there is an misinterpretation a conflict can start.

In conclusion #saynotoxenophobia campaign enforce African people to unite and be one. Fighting is no building but destroying. Skin color does not describe who we are, so is language.

  1. Indeed we need to unite in order to see change in our country, as our late former president Nelson Mandela said, "together we can build South Africa".

  2. Xenophobia is indeed a huge complexity in our communities, and it has to come to an end. I think these kind of blogs are to raise awareness and may curb Xenophobia in our country at large.

  6. I don't understand why people should fight other people just because they are not coming from the same race. At the end of the day we are all human and we deserve to be true of who we are without fearing of what other people will say when I show them my true identity. I agree with you when you say we should unite and make our country better, that's all that needs to be done.
